Barn Cottage at Knighton Barn is situated in the small hamlet of Knighton, just to the north of the village of Newchurch, at the foot of the Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) - ideal for walking, with access to a nationally acclaimed network of footpaths.

There are views across the wooded countryside towards Sandown Bay in the south-east and the Downs above Ventnor in the south - in the foreground, approximately 1 mile away, is the 11th Century Parish Church of Newchurch, set high on a hill surrounded by trees, and within easy walking distance. Maps and illustrated directions for a number of walks of between 1 and 8 miles, are provided, ideal for all ages. All the walks are circular, departing from, and returning to, Knighton Barn.

The nearest beaches at Ryde and Sandown, are only 10-15 minutes drive away, and the town of Newport is a similar distance. There are two supermarkets within 3 miles, and also many places to eat.

Guests have full use of the garden, which is well fenced and is ideal both for young families or for enjoying a peaceful relaxing holiday. French doors from the sitting-room open out onto a patio with garden furniture, [a barbecue is available], and there is plenty of space for ball games. Red squirrels, woodpeckers and many other birds are frequent visitors.

The accommodation, all at ground floor level, is very suitable for families, sleeping 4 plus a cot if required. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds; pillows and blankets are provided, bed linen, towels and household linen can be hired @ £7 per person per week, or you may bring your own; the beds will be made up if you hire linen. A cot and high chair can be provided, at no extra cost. The comfortable open-plan sitting room has a dining area and a compact, well-equipped kitchen. There is a digital TV with DVD player and VCR, electric cooker, microwave oven, fridge-freezer and washing machine. A tumble dryer is also available. The bathroom has a bath with electric shower. Heating is by electricity (included in the rental); storage heaters and wall heaters in the bedrooms.

Lovely accommodation and a fantastic garden which the boys loved when the weather permitted! We saw a couple of red squirrels too!
