Detached, on its own and in a peaceful setting, Marvel Cottage enjoys stunning rural views across lakes to the downs and other Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty beyond. The picturesque farm is in a wonderful cycling and walking area with direct access to a network of cycle paths, footpaths and bridleways. The cottage has been furnished and equipped with care to a high standard and offers charming accommodation in beautiful surroundings with ducks, swans and a huge variety of other wildlife including red squirrels as constant companions. Horses are kept on the farm and in the winter sheep graze here.

French doors open on to a delightful terrace with lovely open views. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. The garden in front of the cottage has now been enclosed with an attractive picket fence making it a safe haven for children. Off road parking for two cars is provided immediately adjacent to the cottage.

Visitors are welcome to watch the horses, roam across the beautiful farmland and enjoy picnics by the trout lakes. Arrangements can be made to become temporary members of the fly fishing syndicate and tuition and tackle hire are available. One of the proprietors is a professional palaeontologist and is happy to identify your finds of fossils and/or take you on guided fossil hunting trips. Storage is available for bicycles and dinghies by arrangement.

The central location of the cottage makes it an ideal base for touring the island. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are within a 15 minute drive as are more secluded bays on the west side of the island. The spectacular medieval castle of Carisbrooke is just a 15 minute walk away along picturesque country lanes and Osborne House, the island home of Queen Victoria, is within a 15 minute drive. The nearby market town of Newport has a variety of supermarkets, shops, restaurants and wine bars and is home to the central bus station. It is within an easy 20 minute walk or five minutes away by car.

The cottage is centrally heated and double glazed. Double doors open into a lovely light and airy open plan area with a charming sitting room furnished with a large arm chair and two comfortable sofas; flat screen television/Freeview/DVD and music system; a dining area with a lovely circular table; a well-equipped fitted kitchen with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, refrigerator with ice box and washing machine. Access to a freezer and tumble dryer is also provided. Stairs lead up to two charming bedrooms – a double room and a second bedroom with a zip and link bed which can be made up as a twin or as a ‘super king’ double. There is also a well-equipped tiled bathroom with a built in ‘Myra’ shower, basin and w.c. A baby bath and stair gate are provided and a travel cot and high chair can also be made available. Central heating/electricity without extra charge. Free unlimited WiFi internet. Discounted ferry travel.
