Why the Isle of Wight?

The Isle of Wight is almost the complete holiday destination. With a good 24-hour ferry service, it is easily accessible. The Island offers great holidays for all ages. It is particularly noted for its beaches, the beauty, variety and availability of its countryside, and yachting from Cowes.

Ventnor is arguably the most beautiful scenic resort in the South of England. The beach is only a short drive away while the popular holiday destinations of Shanklin and Sandown with their fine safe beaches are close by. There is surfing in Compton Bay.

The countryside is one of the most beautiful in the South, with 50% of the Island designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is an exceptional rights of way network across the Island from which it can be admired walking, cycling, or riding.

Cowes is historically the yachting centre of the world. It is only 25 minutes away from Wroxall or Rew by car. Overseas yachtsmen use Wroxall Cross Farm as their base during Cowes Week in early August.

The three other main sailing centres are Bembridge and Seaview, within easy reach, and Yarmouth.

As well as these unique features, there are a host of other activities to suit most tastes. One of seven on the Island, Ventnor Golf Course with its magnificent views adjoins the farm. Other attractions include the Isle of Wight Walking Festival in early May (we host one of the walks), paragliding, Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Isle of Wight Steam Train, Flamingo Park, Black Gang Chine and Osborne House, and an abundance of sea fishing.

Now firmly established and nationally known, the annual Isle of Wight Festival is at Newport, and there is also the Jazz Festival at Mottistone Manor and the Classical Music Open Air Concert at Osborne House.

The Island is well served with restaurants and pubs, many of which offer a high standard of cuisine.
